Austin Street

Forest Hills has changed dramatically in the last 30 years, but there are still remnants of the days when the only franchises were McDonalds, Woolworths and Citibank. Now, it is something of an outdoor mall with all the stores you would expect from Ann Taylor to Boston Market to Victoria's Secret to competing Duane Reade and Rite Aid drugstores. (Rite Aid has the space as the old Woolworths, and somehow, there is a faint echo of those dusty shelves filled with knick knacks, yarn and budgies squawking.
