Reward Offered - Please Help

I have been asked to spread the word that there is a reward for six suitcases stolen on Sunday night from the hallway of 529 E 12th Street. Two filmmakers were returning from a two month trip and in their bags were their laptops, a very expensive camera and their backup data (their life's work), among other things. They are working to get the video from the cameras outside the building to find out who has done this, but this will take a little bit of time, and in the meantime they are offering a generous reward for the return of at least the backup data which has no value to anybody but the filmmakers.

Ciao for Now has agreed to be the go-between for the return of the equipment. If the backup data is returned to Ciao for Now, there will be an immediate and generous cash reward.

Also, residents of the neighborhood are asked to look in the trash to see big bundles of clothing and empty silver cases as clues to identifying the thief.

Yikes! They must have been really tired after the trip. I mean, we all know to leave valuables unattended for even a moment is not a good idea. And when you are talking a very expensive camera, the MOVIE the shot and laptops . . .

Ugh. What a nightmare. I hope this turns up... Cool of Ciao for Now to serve as the go-between.

Some items have been returned. (their back-up data, not all the items..i.e-laptops,i-pads)
I think it is a shame people blame them, they live in a co-op where they know their neighbors very well. I've left stuff outside my 5th floor rental, without incident. This was just a really lousy example of someone acting really shitty!
Shame on them. Thanks for returning the creative work of two struggling artists, but shame on you for thinking it's ok to keep any of their valuables.

Karma will prevail, you loser!

wow, returned some but not all. what a mixed bag of emotions on that. i hate to be all 'native newyorker' and stuff, but yeah, you don't leave stuff unattended for a *second.* you just can't. people are shitty. i'm sorry these folks had to experience that the hard way. hopefully payback will be a bitch for the lowlife thieves.

Damn, that's terrible. With that many suitcases being inside the building, it doesn't sound to me like someone walking by suddenly decided to steal their stuff. Sounds more like they could have been followed...I hope they can back-track their steps prior to coming home. There may be video from another source that could help.
