It's True, There is No Motto

Did you think the post office motto was "Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds?" I did, but then I googled it and found out that it is not their official motto, only the one inscribed on the main post office. Good thing they didn't adopt it, because today, the Saturday before Christmas, when there was snow falling, but no snow actually sticking, they closed early, on what is arguably the busiest post office day of the year. And they're losing money? Maybe it's because they don't have a motto. Or maybe because they have truly stopped trying.

Dang. Which branch? 14th Street? Fourth Avenue?

Ben & Jerry's on Third Avenue was the only biz that I noticed closing early.

Well, it was Saturday. Don't they always close early on Saturday?

It was the Stuyvesant branch on 14th. And they are usually open on Saturdays til around 5 or 6, though they don't post their hours on the door, another way they show their love. It sucked for our 3 packages stuffed with goodies for the kiddies and booze for the adults.

Goodies & booze!
Hey, I'd be happy to deliver those for you. I'm going out that way anyway, no trouble at all.
