13th Street Memories

Before that horrid and cheap looking glass thing went up on 13th Street between 1st & A, next to the post office, and where that lumber yard used to be, there were also actual apartment buildings. Somebody took it upon themselves to remind us about this every time you pass by by framing a photo of the street as it used to be. However I'm having trouble matching up the photo posted with what used to be there, it doesn't quite match to my memory, so any input on what this is would be great, and what's all that wooden construction stuff in the foreground of the photo?
