Small Box Stores Need Not Apply

The empty space in front of the Blue building on Delancey Street has been empty for what seems like years (is it really years since this thing went up? I think so.) It seems they have changed their marketing strategy and are specifically looking for a Big Box store to anchor their luxury condos. No subtleties here, the mallification of the Lower East Side is officially posted.

And on another Blue building note, it was my impression that the draw for living in such a space was the floor to ceiling windows. One person has put up some very thick curtains, which makes me wonder what the other attraction is to living here. The fumes from the Williamsburg Bridge traffic? Its central location to absolutely... nothing? Hmmm.
