I don't know, but I think the writer of this piece blew it. Well, I guess it is good enough for Fashion & Style. They kind of completely skip Echo in the myth and how important that entity is in the whole picture. Echo, in the case of the celebrities in the article, would be the mass media. Anyway,if one wanted to really explore these issues and the gender implications one might read Carol Gilligan book The Birth of Pleasure. Terry Real too maybe.
