I imagine what they tell their friends when they invite them over for their fancy cocktail parties: "Yes, we live on the Bowery. No, it is quite safe now, you now we have a museum just down the road. You can't miss it, it sticks up 13 stories higher than everything around us. Just enter through the door to the left of the 7-11. And bring up a slurpee on your way in, they go so well with the pork belly dumplings."

7-11 Embarrassment
Condos in this eyesore building at 351 Bowery (also known as 52 E 4th St) have sold from $1.1 million to $3.6 million. The most astonishing sale is for unit PK1 which is 157 square feet for $2.1 million and must be a parking space. Looks like PK3 and PK4 are unsold. What a rare opportunity for a Bowery resident to snap up. I also wonder how Unit 5S feels about spending double what 4S spent for the same apartment but one story higher. I hope they don't stomp too much out of anger and shame.

When that building went up, it was supposed to be the most glamorous thing around...as much as I dislike 7-11, I had more than a few laughs when that was the business chosen to be the base of such a swanky address. This is what money buys these days...
